Tieja MacLaughlin

Tieja MacLaughlin is a sought-after public relations and crisis management consultant for individuals, executives and brands who are experiencing reputation damage including social media fallout, legal issues, professional misconduct allegations, and other sensitive matters.

Tieja has made a name for herself with her compassionate, yet no non-sense approach, utilizing restorative justice techniques to resolve issues. She has worked with a variety of high-performing individuals including business owners, C-suite executives, athletes, actors, first responders and military personnel. Tieja promotes proactive online reputation management to protect her clients, and navigates complex situations with ease.

Tieja’s background in media and communications, combined with her personal and lived experience, has bolstered her natural ability to strategize and equip clients to effectively communicate their desired message. She helps brands discover their own unique voice and share it in an original way by providing strategic communications counsel, public relations guidance and media relations support.

By leveraging her expertise, Tieja generates greater public awareness and visibility for brands, and shares stories with the public that maximize revenues, while helping them avoid or minimize reputation risk and negative impact when faced with media or public scrutiny.

Tieja has lent her voice to topics such as entrepreneurship, digital literacy and restorative justice, and she is a regular keynote speaker recognized for her candid authenticity, sharp-witted distillation of complex topics and effortless adaptability that connects with a range of audiences. Her insights and expertise have also appeared in numerous publications and in the media.

Tieja is very involved within her community and volunteers with local organizations including the Canadian Mental Health Association, Daily Bread Food Bank, and Peacebuilders Canada.

Prior to her current role, Tieja worked in the sports industry. She held various positions with Hockey Canada, Rogers Sportsnet, the Ottawa Senators (NHL), Kitchener Rangers (OHL) and Canadian Women’s Hockey League. Career highlights include the 2010 NFL ProBowl and 2012 IIHF World Junior Championships.

Tieja holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, ON, and has completed additional studies in Journalism and Law. She is also certified in industry-leading digital marketing designations from Google, HubSpot and Hootsuite.

In her spare time, Tieja plays sports, enjoys visiting art galleries and exhibits, and is always in search of her next great adventure from the peaks of the Western Rockies to the beaches of South America.
